Chess Academy Fees in India: What Should You Pay in 2026?

Chess academy fees in India

There is no single price for chess coaching in India. Fees depend on the coach, class size, format and what is bundled in. Here is how to judge value, not just the number.

What changes the price

  • Group or private: private 1-on-1 coaching costs more because the coach's time is not shared.
  • Coach rating and experience: a FIDE-rated coach with teaching experience is worth more than a casual player.
  • Classes per week: one versus two makes a big difference to progress.
  • Billing cycle: monthly, quarterly or half-yearly, where longer commitments usually cost less per month.
  • What is included: tournaments, study material, reports, certificates.

Our pricing, plainly

Group classes at The Digital Chessboard start from ₹999 per month (Beginner level, one class per week, half-yearly billing). Monthly, quarterly and half-yearly billing are available, and private 1-on-1 coaching is priced separately and shared during enrolment. Every plan includes a structured curriculum, homework and puzzles, progress tracking, parent-teacher meetings, level certificates and joining gifts (a chess training book and a puzzle book). Full details are on the pricing page.

How to judge value

  1. Divide the monthly fee by the number of classes to get the cost per class.
  2. Ask how many students share that class.
  3. Check what else is included (tournaments, reports, materials).
  4. Ask about refunds before paying.

Beware of the extremes

Very cheap can mean crowded batches or unrated coaches. Very expensive does not automatically mean better teaching. Ask for a demo and compare. We offer a free one and a 7-day money-back guarantee so you can decide without risk.
